Sunlight is a great disinfectant, and with thousands of potential observers of the details of public spending, major abuses are less likely. Austin has a lot of techies who considered the opening up of government books a challenge. New York's reform-minded Governor Eliot Spitzer or Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli might want to emulate this. New York has techies who can do this job.
